Position Overview
Our client is looking for a meticulous Underwriting Credit Analyst to join their team. In this role, you will evaluate and process credit applications with precision, ensuring decisions align with their strategic objectives and risk management policies. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in credit analysis, particularly in the credit card sector, gained from experience with major financial institutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Credit Evaluation
- Analyze credit applications, financial statements, credit bureau reports, and other key data to assess creditworthiness.
- Decision-Making
- Approve, decline, or recommend adjustments to credit applications following established underwriting guidelines and risk frameworks.
- Verification and Documentation
- Validate applicant information, including income, employment, and assets, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company standards and legal regulations.
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with sales, customer service, and other departments to resolve discrepancies and provide clear communication on underwriting decisions.
- Compliance and Risk Management
- Adhere to all regulatory standards, including the Fair Lending Act and ECOA, while ensuring internal compliance protocols are met.
- Insights and Reporting
- Maintain detailed documentation of credit decisions and provide insights to improve underwriting practices. Monitor trends in credit quality to support strategic planning.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 2–5 years in credit underwriting, with a focus on credit cards.
- Industry Background: Prior experience at leading financial institutions such as Safra, Itaú, XP, Bradesco, Santander, or American Express is essential.
- Skills: Strong analytical capabilities, excellent attention to detail, and proficiency in evaluating financial data and credit policies.
- Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with regulatory requirements in credit underwriting and risk management.
